Patriots Match Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign

The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three scores as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields scoring a short rushing score to cap the New York's initial series

But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as the rookie scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7

"It was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He desires to be great."

Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
