NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair
In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.
Dominant Display Seals Game
Despite registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Record Struggles for Jets Attack
In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to score a possible victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than calling on specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the contest.
