One teenage boy was discovered deceased just days following being falsely accused of taking the ashes of a deceased baby during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Heartbreaking Finding

The young boy's mother and father found his body in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.

False Allegations Start

The investigation learned how his mother received a message on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if her son was her child. The communication added: "Inform him appreciation for breaking into my flat."

In a statement presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the media, asserting her baby's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.

Police Inquiry

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the alleged break-in victim had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that said items was not stolen in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed taken remains attracted social media responses, and although Kai was not identified in the posts, his parent said people "understood it was him".

The "online posts were extremely distressing", she stated.

Mental Health Effect

She added that her son had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' views really mattered to him.

"This must have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was not true".

Kai was arrested at home, but nothing was discovered. He was taken to a law enforcement facility and later freed under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the inquest learned, but had not reached out to the family by the time of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said her son "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her child told her he had gone into the residence because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being harassed online after the allegations.

The proceedings learned that one 19-year-old encouraged Kai to end his life.

She had no concerns on the evening before he died, describing how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "caring, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely shattered".

He had been "obviously hiding his worries", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest received testimony from educational personnel at the local secondary school.

On 8 November, she "heard some students talking that the student had been detained and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the conversation, the staff member said she rang the family's family landline and provided a message saying she had spoken to the student about the accusations.

The court heard his family said they never got that communication.

Formal Conclusion

Lead investigator told the inquest he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before determining whether he should make a prevention of subsequent deaths report.

Providing a descriptive finding, he said: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young individual.

"Likely falsehoods were afterwards exaggerated and amplified through the platform of social media.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the police and after his questioning he was released whilst inquiries continued."

The official determined: "Exists no proof that the actions or omissions of any agency led to or added to his passing and although it was the result of a personal action it is impossible to determine his purpose."
